4.0 ohv wont start need help

ok i got the 4.0 ohv i jump started it the other night and went down the street and drug a little passanger rocker well it was running fine and everything so i pulled it up the driveway and shut it off to weld some plate on it to drag. well i went to start it back up and it wont even turn over. i tryed my ranger battery in the x and it still wouldnt start. i put the x batt in the ranger and the ranger started so i know its not the battery. the starter relay clisck with the key and a jumper wire. i checked the fuses and all is good. im thinking the starter seloniod is bad but how could it go out like that fast? i tryed runnin a jumper 8 ga wire from the battery to the seloniod and it sparks when i touch it. i turn the key to on and her the fuse box then the relay click and then i tough the 8 ga jumper to the seloniod and it does not spark when the key is on. so anybody got anymore ideas im thinking its the starter seloniod but i have also not had it fully in park before and it did something similar. but i messed with the shifter and made sure it was in park. so maybe i should air it up and get it up on jack stands and check the neutral start switch? i dont knwo much about gettin trucks to run lol just slammin em on the gound.

sounds like you need a starter or a solinoid.

just mentioning the obvious, but did you disconect your battery or put a surge protector on, if you didnt you could have fried your computer.
same thing happened with my friends camaro, you could cycle it on, but it wouldnt turn over, we pushed started it and then it died after a second, but we eventually got it running. check the readings on your starter and tap on it with a rubber hammer b/c some times they lock up.
ill let you know exactly what my buddy did when we got it on the lifts at school wen i talk to him later tongiht.

ya the starter is shot we even pulled it off the truck and hooked it up to a 12v power inverter and it only cranks when u tap it with a hammer and it stopes when ya stop hittin it

brushes are gone in it.
