So I molded my sideskirts... the way I went about doing it was I sanded is to where it was as flat as I could get it against the rocker... then I drilled and poprivet the suckers on. then I used duraglass filler... then sanded that so that it couldnt be seen where it started nor ended. then I added bondo (not more than 1/8 inch thick. but my problem came about when the kit didnt seem to follow the fenders curve. The kit seemed to have more or a radius than the fender which made a gape about 1/2 inch between the kit and the fener where in the door jam area. I did this about 3 months ago and that part is already cracking out....

Should I just go back and dremal that area out and just put some dura glass then a layer of f/g matt and sand that... or should I dremal it out and leave that gap? man I will never mold sideskirts on again...

You need to fiberglass the panels to the car with mat and resin, that is the only way to make it strong.

car/truck? I looked on your profile, but you don't have anything up there.

Either way, before you put all this work into it, I would like to offer one word of advice....be careful. I never molded my kit when I had it, and I'm so thankful that I didn't. If you hit anything and it flexes, it's gonna pop that molding out or break the kit...either way, you're screwed. Where as if you don't mold it, it will most likely just pop the bracket that holds the kit to the vehicle instead.

I've seen it both ways, and I would just leave it...but it's your call. If you do mold it, I definitly agree with ahab on using the fiberglass matting to reinforce the mold.

Good luck.

yeah I thought about that issue... but I ended up not using matt and that probably screwed it all up...

yea, youd definately want to sand the car to bare metal and use f/g mat and resin. theres also stuff called panel bond that supposedly works really well. i think its used on GM f-bodies to hold thier composite door skins on.

Damn I wish this project would hurry up. I'm so ready to start a new one...
