Here is a topic I replied to about stockfloors. To attach, I recommend sliding the new rails inside the old ones a bit then plug welding a few spots and plating the joint on the outside.

maybe i should be more specific, when doin the stock floor frame which im usin 2x2x1/4 do you keep the frame level with the bottom or top of the stock frame and then drop the rad support like a tradintional b/d? i need pics im gettin confused thnx for the help

keep it level with the bottom, and then drop the frame horns like a traditional.

check out my profile for pics, don't look at the front frame clip narrowing shots. that'll probably just add to the confusion

uhhh. honestly man you need to know this kind of stuff before you start talking about a SFBD. You dont even need to use 2x2, much less 2x2x1/4. 2x3 will let you lay flat rocker, and 3/16 is plenty thick (the stock frame is 1/8 ) By going to 2x2, you are going to have to redo the tranny tunnel and somehow fit 1 and 7/8" exhaust in that 2" space under the cab. Also, using 2x3 you can reuse the stock body mounts, if you use 2x2 you have make them all new from scratch. You are making a lot more work for yourself than you need to. If the end result is to lay rocker, then use 2x3.

Make it level with the front suspesnion crossmember, it makes the 2" difference between the 5" stock frame and the 3" new frame actually a 2.5 inch drop, which will allow you to fold the pinches.

I admire that you want to do it on your own, but please make sure you understand what a SFBD is and how it should be planned out before you cut. There is only a small difference between a "project" and a "useless pile of scrap", and you will have to cut a LOT of your truck up before you can start welding it back into a truck.

i dont know why but i hate SFBD, im not much for acronyms. dont use 2x2, and maybe you should spend a month or 2 looking at every website you can find with tons of pics of bodydrops done.
