Hey, I have an alpine indash tv and a JL 500/1 amp. They're pushing 2 JL 10W0s in JL fiberglass boxes. Heres my problem, Iv been running them for awhile now and when my bass is set high and the amp runs for awhile the bass will cut out then come back on in seconds. The battery seems to be fine and the amp isnt even getting warm. What could be the problem?

There could be a couple things to check, first is to check wire connections, go through them all. Bass likes to rattle shit loose. The bad thing and worse case, from what I know from selling JL Audio is that the 10w0's can only handle about 125watts rms and the 500/1 put out 500 watts rms so your all ready 125 watts more to each 10w0 then you want to be, so if the amps not getting hot then its a good chance you spanked your sub or subs. A good test is see if theres a funky kind of burned up smell coming from the subs and the best way is to take it out of the box and just push down on the face a little to see if the voice coils are burned out, you

sounds to be like the amp is shutting off cause of too low of an impedance load on it..what ohm are your subs..how they wired..and whats the amp rated at...

hey trev.the jl 500/1 is built to run 500 watts any load from 4 to 1.5 ohms and its a 1ch,the 10w0's only come 8ohm or 4ohm and shes pushing 2 so even if its two 8 ohm they would be running 4 ohm load so i don't think it would be a load problem.

ahh yeah that prolly aint it yet then...what made me think that was that it would cut out for a few seconds and come back on..could be a bad ground too
