i do bodywork for a living but was kinda wondering this... if you were to paint a all over job in say... red whatever. If you wanted to do another single color flame layout across the hood and down the sides. Would you just let the red dry completely and them tape off/ mask off ur flames and scuff the red to spray ur new color. makes sense to me but was just wondering...

that's the way it's done, but you'd have one hell of a tape line that way...

yea u would have one hell of one. thats true. i like the idea of single stage paint on simplier jobs - was just curious. didnt know if going that route on two color paint schemes would be worth it or just spend the extra money on a basecoat/clearcoat. thanks man

just spend the extra money. once uve shot the base, then done ur graphic then cleared it bout 3/4 times there shouldnt be much of a tape line...

pinstripe could hide the line a little but i would just clear it

do the red in the singal stage then go back and 1000 the hole job do the flames in base coat then clear the whole job with at least 4 good coats of clear and buff

so whats the point of shooting the red in single stage? why not just shoot it with a basecoat?

u would still see it a lil bit, it would help but still not worth it since you would have to lay it on a lil thicker then normal and would then have a raised pinstripe line. so it's either a tape line or raised 1shot

just trying to answer his q and to be honest singal stage cleared over does look a lot deeper if done right

Spraying clear over single stage would not tbe the best idea, just go get some base/clear or dont do graphics.
