I was wondering if anyone pulls a vechile behid an expolere. Mine is a 1996 AWD. It was a v8 in it so I know the power is there. Im just looking for something I can pull my car with. Is this a good idea?

I wouldnt pull a car trailer with a explorer, maybe a dolly though.

when towing, explorers have a tendancy to go belly up.

Say goodbye to you're tranny if you try.

91-94s have the shitty trany the a4ld. in 95 explorers went to a 40r70w(i think) which is hella better.

uhaul used to not let you rent a trailer if it was going to be towed with an exlporer. I don't why though. There new rules say:
* Must be equipped with a hard top if it is an SUV. U-Haul does not allow any type of sport-utility vehicle not equipped with a hard top to tow U-Haul equipment.
* Must weigh at least 3,500 lbs. (curb weight), and must equal or exceed 80% of the combined weight of the trailer (2,000 lbs.) and the vehicle being towed (up to 4,000 lbs.).
* Must have Class 3 tow hitch (5,000 lbs. minimum weight-carrying rating)
* Must have 1-7/8", 2" or 2-1/8" hitch ball (5,000 lbs. minimum)
* Must not exceed maximum allowable hitch ball height 25"
* Must have external mirrors on both sides
* Must have fully operational lighting
* Auto transport lighting must be operational at all times, day and night, loaded or unloaded
* Maximum recommended speed is 45 MPH

i pull my ranger on an 18footer with my explorer with ease. not to mention i pull it with my explorer having 20's and have yet had a problem. i have the all wheel drive v8 as well. the only thing id recommend is the weight distribution bars for your trailer. those work wonders!
