would it be possible to weld the spindle to the bars that go in to the middle of the car on the bottom of the strut on the rear of a strut car so the spindle wont have movement and thus alowing a regular bag to be mounted on top the modified strut with the shock part removed so i can get more lift?

I would be more akin to making an upper control arm then just bolting the spindle to that.....that would be waaaaayyyy safer.

what if i made a a-arm that attaches to the top of the strut then take out the shock part and put a regular bag up there? use the whole strut kinda like a long spindle, or is that what your trying to tell me? if not explain more please. thanks.

The strut needs to be able to turn. The bearing at the top of struts is there for this purpose. if you put a bag between the bearing and the strut (or even above the bearing) there will be nothing to hold the strut rigid and the top of the strut will swing around, wildly changing camber, caster, toe, steering direction etc.

The "shock" in struts is made to support the car, you cant do that with a shock. It is also made to stay rigid and only allow the spindle to move straight up and straight down. If you put a bag in its place, it will be like replacing your suspension with spaghetti.

this is for the rear so it doesnt need to turn, and the spindle will be welded to the bars that go to the center in the rear. the shock i know doesnt "support" the rear cause mine are so blown they have no force in them what so ever. i figure if i weld the spindle to the bars that go in to the center of the car it will make it like a solid L shape and then the spindle wont flop around. any more ideas? thanks for the help so far too!

by "support the car" Russ isnt talking about keeping it off of the ground. he means support suspension geometry, and locating of the wheel.

what kind of car is this for?

its for a ford taurus. i think if i weld the spindle to the bars it will keep it stable. i want to put regular bags on the back so i get more lift.it has strut bags on it now and they are moved down so the car is as low as i can make it, so i lost lift.

I think I understand what you are saying and the only advice i can give is make it all bolt in just in case it doesn't work, and if you are attaching the strut mount to the lower control arms you might want to think twice about that because most of the time lower control arms on the rear of a strut car are pretty much stamped sheet metal and would prob bend.

honestly, get rid of the air and juice it. It'll save you alot of headaches. I went through quite a few air setups on my car and found out the only way it's gonna be even somewhat reliable is not gonna be low. I went to juice about a year ago, got as low as I wanted, and (knock on wood) haven't had any problems with it. I have an extra Pro-Hopper setup (chrome) I'll give you a good deal on if you're interested.
