I am in the process of painting my truck. One of the colors I am using is HOK Orion Silver Metallic. I want to add more sparkle to it so I am going to add some chrome flake to it. My question is, is it ok to add the flake to the first coat of clear or do I have to use a intercoat clear? Any tips on spraying the flakes? Thanks guys.

i all ways put it in DBC500, then clear it

DBC500 is what i use also. tips for metal flake are: get an agitator for your gun and get the rite size tip for the flakes you are using. it will take a bigger tip then normal. i always spray a light tack coat and then come back with the flakes to get them to stick and lay down flat, then clear it until they are burried. try and alternate your stop and start points on each pass and keep the gun moving or you will have spots and strips that are heavier then others. good luck

Id recommend spraying on a medium coat of clear then adding flakes to second coat helps em lay better and bite in a lot better..
