What do I need to do to get rid of bumpsteer or reduce it as much as possible? Oh and it's on a dakota. I know I need to get an alignment cause the guy I bought it from never got one to the best my knowledge.

In theory you should move the drag linkage up, but is probably more work than whats worth doing.

dont you have one of the dodges that SSC did the s10 conversion on? if they used s10 spindles the mount for the tie rod might be higher or lower than the stock, and the only way to fix that is move the steering rack.

Yes you would be correct cris. If I need to move the rack; how do I figure out how much to move it? Will I just have to guess and just do it and see what happens?

well to be correct, the steering racks nuckles (the pivot points on the rack) need to be in a vertical line with the upper and lower arm pivots, i think usually its usually a 5-15 degree slope, but not positive on that, then the tie rods pivot points need to be parallel with the lower arms mounting points (balljoint and pivot point).

I guess I need a visual of what you are saying cris. I kind of understand but think I confused myself. What they did as far as I can tell is left the factory steering rack and welded on the s10 end and put on s10 spindles. Everything else is dakota except for balljoints as far as I can tell.

sounds like you need to call the shop and ask them

just make your tie rods parrallel with your lower control arms. so say you lift the truck up until the lower arms are flat, " like parrallel with the ground" then move your rack wherever you need too.

Baer brakes makes some kool tie rod ends that let you adjust the mounting point at the spindals they work great Ive use them on alot of our projects.
