The v6 will feel underpowered if you ever have anything in the bed or on a trailer.
I guess it's all relative to how far you drive it daily etc.
I would never go with the 4.3 in a fullsize. I would also not get the baby 4.8v8, Try to stick with a 5.3l, they get decent gas mileage (around 20 extressway, 15 city) and have enough power to haul pretty much anything you can fit on a car hauler.
I personally just think you'd be dissapointed by the power that the v6 would give you. the price point is attractive though, as with the lesser fuel consumption, but, if you have to get on the gas HARDER to compensate the v6, your gas mileage will go down.
