Russ.. I did the GM alternator and need to know what the two prongs on the alternator are for. I think one is the excitor and I need to know which one it is. It is in there though. Just dont seem to be charging like it should be.

The post closest to the output post needs a jumper ran to it from the output post.

Here's a pic of my mazda. Put the chevy on it a year or so ago...... can't see it to well but you can get the idea.

so make a jumper from the male spade closest to the output bolt and should work fine? I just want to make sure that it is correct.

yes that is correct and the other one you can hook up to your idiot light on your dash.

LOL RUSS-D i knew something he didnt i am impressed with myself. yeah i had one on my 1967 volvo wagon and on the austin truck. it makes the world of differnce when you are trying to eliminate wires and what not...

The two prongs on mine must be a little different. It was the one furthest away from the output bolt that kicked it on. But thanks a ton guys.

yeah jeremy i have seen them both ways. i think it depends on who rebuilt them. when i took apart my one on the volvo to rewind it i put that in backwards.
