new or old

My father is looking at upgrading the engine in his 93 chevy silverado. What do you think would be better to put new parts on the old 350 (Like chrome covers and other parts) or upgrade to a 454 without the chrome. This truck is mainly a show truck so he wants to have it look good. I think that the 454 would look better then a lot of chrome but what do you think. Is it worth the extra money to get the 454 over the chrome. Thanks for you help.
