Axle width questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a '03 gmc and i need to get the rear end narrowed like about 6 inches, is there any other 6 lug rear ends out there that may measure under 66" like off of other cars or trucks. also what company can shorten rear end housings, around louisiana. i dont think the axles can be cut and resplined cause the splined section has a larger diameter than the rest of the shaft.

axles can be cut and shortened but then you would have to send them out to be heat treated and all that good stuff. and dont take the rear to any joe shmoe. narrowing a rear is not just a walk in the park. its very easy to warp the hell out of the tubes and or have a misalignment. in which you would probably have to junk it. so do your homework on the shops.

you may want to look into a 4x4 rear end from a 88-98 chevy/gmc truck. same 6 lug pattern and it is narrower than 99-up. the junk yard gave me the wrong rear end and it would fit
