bodydroppin cars?

i gotta question bout BDin cars? is it possible? what kinda problems will i run into? am i better off stockfloorin the cars? i gotta 81 coupe deville and im thinkin about gettigna 80s caprice wagon

body dropping cars is a pain in the ass. me and two of my buddies did a cutlass real basic with not very big rims first and it wasnt super hard. but laying out a car on big rims requires basically tearing out the guts (floor,rear suspension,etc) and putting all new stuff back in. stock floor would probably be the way to go due to the fact that your gonna have to back half it anyways. i know three people in my area including myself that are body dropping or are already done body dropping rwd gm cars and trust me it is not as easy as a truck, not to say that body dropping a truck is easy because it is not. just expect to spend more money and time if you wanna be sitting on rockers with big rims. some of the hurdles i've ran into are rims hitin quarters when they tuck all the way up (shortened axle housing or fwd backspace cures this),lack of parts available, and cars are alot harder to put wheel wells back into. we are z'ing the frame on my buddies town car to avoid having to body drop it. if the car you choose has frame rails that are tucked up above the rockers and an engine cradle that doesnt hit first (his does thats why we z'ed it) in the front you can save yourself a shit load of ass aches and just lay it out with either a stock floor or just plain good suspension with a lot of drop. so yes its possible so i say go for it.

was bodydropped by R Customz back in 96-97.



Was first done by Chris at Totally Polished back in 95. Then the second reincarnation

was done in 97-98.

All depends on the car and the size wheel you want to roll. The caprices tires pushed the hood up. Little Rob's was done by IF a few years ago. The whole upper front clip is wedge sectioned to clear the 20's. There is also Jamie from ST who put bumps in the fenders to clear the tires.

For the most part these were all done traditional bodydrop style. Most cars already have pretty thin frames so stockfloor may be questionable.

so what about buildina whole new frame? would that be the way to go?

The only real purpose that would serve is to get a stock floor body drop and as already mentioned that may not be the best way to go.

They only time a new frame would benfit a car would be in the case of unibody rides. Like I put most car frames are thin already. Cars usually do not require as much a BD as a truck. The chevelle is not even noticable because of the way the stock floor is shaped.Bring the Noize '06 coming February 20

I would go with a custom frame thats what im about to start with im going to the doors on 20s
