ok i figured out the easiest way to narrow a ranger rear end a couple inches. since one side is longer than the other, get another short axle and narrow one side to match that axle. then the rear end would be centered in the truck instead of offset.anyone see any problem in this? im gona try to have my rear end narrowed by blooddrag....

every car rear end is usually not centered

YEHA I HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE. NOT FOR A RANGER BUT ME AND A BUDDY OF MINE HAVE DONE IT BEFORE.

Wouldn't that put an angle in the driveshaft (side to side) since the tranny output won't be inline with the pumpkin u-joint?

Also, which I'm sure you've though about, you'd have to redo all of your link brackets.

Sounds good. Only problem I see is if you have anything real close to the driveshaft right now. Usually the center section is offset to make the pinion centered so by centering the rearend the driveshaft will probably run at a slight angle, possibly causing interference with a gas tank or bracket.

this is all very true and when i did this it was a scratch built hot rod so the tunnel was built... so on and so forth

they do it on dakotas too... flip the axle from the small side to the long side and shorten the tube.. and then get the long axle shortened and reslined and shorten the short side the same length. So basically you still shorten the axle tubes the length of the shorter axle and you only have to shorten one axle so it fits in the shorter side.

this description is fucked up if you want a pic i can supply one
