hi guys, i was wondering what i should do when welding the rear solid. should i buy the tailgate skin and rollpan and weld those in or just get a large peice of steel and just try to make the body lines and such?

your best bet is to go to grant customs and have him build you a cal combo for it. i got a skin from fbi before and it fit alright but grants stuff is supposed to be the best

Easiest way is a cal combo, but do it the right way so you don't have cracked body work later on...Don't just weld it in and have nothing in behind it...Its made to replace the tailgate skin, not be the whole tailgate sapport...

thats my problem now, right now i have a roll pan welded on already,i dont know if i shud jus seal the sides of the tailgate and weld a piece of steel inbetween the roll pan and the tailgate or jus buy a skin.

oh no,i'd seriously cut the welds back out, and get a skin, reinforce it with like 2x2 square tubing

madmike,i think, has a good picture of the reinforcing of the tailgate skin

Dude that's how my roll pan is on my reg.cab yota,it just sucked doin the body work on it,it took some heavy blocking to get it right...I welded the whole gate in as well, front and back...
