Anyone with a Checkmate Tonneu Cover with Shaved Tailgate?

How do you open the tonneu cover?I was gonna leave the straps off that hold it down but I though that would be a bad idea cause it would flap around.Any ideas?Thanks

i put door poppers on mine...worked pretty slick

mine has the external lock kit but it sucks to put a key in there in winter its usally froze up

i got the exterior locks on my fullsize and i just my unlock it and put my fingers on the end of the cover and just pull up on it and i got one with the straps on my s10 and i never lock it down well if i did i couldnt get back in the bed and mines never flaped around while i was driving

i have a checkmate cover on mine i actually dont have a lock or the straps and dont have a problem after 2 years it stays pretty well

theres been lots of times I forgotten to lock mine and it has never flapped around or bounced open.

my friend tony shaved his tailgate handle off and instead of putting it on the inside he put the latch piece on the bottom of the tailgate so he would reach inbetween his rollpan and tailgate and he was able to pop the top. He also ditched the straps and mounted pins on it so you would close the tonneau first and then close the tailgate and then pins would mate up with the tailgate and lock it in place

i just took my straps of when i had it i didnt actually see them holding very tight anyway. and it didnt seem to flop around that much

mine was never lateched down. worked perfect. I sheetmetaled my bed so i took it off though.
