I've replaced the head on my 1994 Toyota 4-cyl manual trans with a/c. When you set the timing on a carbed truck you disconect the vacume advance, since this truck is EFI is there an eletronic way to stop the advance, or do you need to? Also, what should the timing be set to and what is the suggested idle speed. My Haynes manual says that this information should be on the VECI tag under the hood (vehichle engine control information???), anyway, I don't have one on my hood. THANKS!

Does anyone just know what degrees of advance? I found that you have to jump some wires in the diagnostic plug to set the timing, and the the tag is a "Vehicle Emmisions Control Info" that I am missing. I called toyota for the timing specs... they said they can't give them to me, but they can set it for me... at a nominal charge of course.

you want to jump Te1 and E1 in the diag plug AFTER you get the truck to operating temp. Then set your timing to 5 degrees before TDC and you should be good!

Thanks man, that really helped. I just got it running today, now all I have to do is re-torque the head bolts after it runs a while.
