ok so the people who did the suspension no my truck didnt allow enough room for the driveshaft to clear when the truck is dropped all the way down in the rear. so i cut out the U shape peice of steel in the middle of the crossmember and my question is how much stress/wieght is really put on this crossmember? and can just take some mild steel and just make a hoop that welds on the top of the crossmember and call it good?

well id say make some sort of bracing for it, you dont want it totally out. as of now i prob will rework mine since the back side of it is rusted out. i may put a new plate in it and try to support what i can. i dont see why u have to take it out. mine did not hit when it was all the way down. but i still have the leaf spring brackets i may have to re work it when i remove those for the 4 link

I cut that bitch out but i have another crossmember welded in there for my 4 link. It has a hoop in the middle of the crossmember.

I plan on cutting it out. I would have to notch ti in a few places to make it work with my exhaust... I'll just build a beefy one, and then cut the whole thing out.

ya i just ended up cutting it out and building a box on top of it. i could jump up and down and it wouldnt budge. im pissed now cause i thought that was keeping my truck from laying all the way out in the back. but the truck still stops at like and inch from the ground. turns out the dumbazzes that did my bags didnt make the bridge high enough so the bags bottom out before the truck does. so now i need to redo that but now im afraid that the notch isnt going to be big enough.

If it's not big enough, get some 3 inch 1/4" wall tube, and put a mini notch in it.

ya that would work. i was actually thinking about getting a bigger notch and putting it in and just rewelding the same bridge to the top of the bigger notch that way it will lay out and clear the axle. or i could do what you said and just raise the upper bag mount. i dunno its not going to happen right now seeing how im jobless.
