hey guys i plan on shaving my truck i currently have this welder http://www.tonsoftools.com/product_info.php?cPath=56&products_id=314 will this work well? i'm currently using flux core wire and do not have a gas hookup. i read that the gas hookup makes a huge difference. is this true, and if so how do i go about converting mine to gas? what all do i need?

some welders make a kit but you will need a new gun, regulator, air line, and a bunch of other shit. look for the kit if they make it.

To get that welder into some gas, you will probably need to buy a gas regulator, and obviously take a trip down to your local weld shop and get yourself some 75/25 mix for it, thats assuming that the welder is even able to accept a gas hookup.

If it does. It will probably work ok for bodywork, and ligt work.

But to tell you the truth, with the money that cost, you probably could have bought a miller or lincoln for around the same price, and their gas ready, and are proven reliable.

this one is gas ready to, it came with a regulator but in the instructions if doesn't really say alot about how to hook it up or what to buy.

then you hook up the airline to the fitting in back and then hook up the line to the regulator

then your regulator to the bottle..

you also need to invert your power and run mig wire not flux core

and get c25 gas.

where exactly can i get the c25 gas and how much is it?
nvrhapy   +1y
yea and my welder originally came with mig wire and was set up for gas, i had to buy the flux core wire and switch the polarity

when i got c25 gas i paid like 30 for the fill but i had a rental bottle which costs 70 for the year for a 120cf.
