bed rail caps?

Hey, I'm looking to put a checkmate cover on my bed, but f150's have the fugly factory bed rail and tailgate caps...

anybody have a link to buy aftermarket paintable ones or does anybody have pics of a f150 with the caps off and stake pockets shaved? not sure if it will look right w/ that odd body line that the cap sits on...

if its the newer ones, id suggest a gaylords cover that covers them up(sits over them) its more expensive than the check mates but looks 10x better IMO

it's an '01, and i agree those look more "finished", but i really like the flush/low profile look of the checkmates... i just need to figure out the cap issue.

under the caps is holes galore. it would take hours upon hours of fiberglassing/blocking to shave em.

street scene I think make the smooth caps for them I can't remeber someone does. and if you want to look at what they look like shaved If did one that are shaved and it is a pain in the ass. My bed cover is smooth looking and covers those so you can't see them.

Im in the prosess of shaving mine right now. ive got the driver side done (minus body work). its actually not that hard to shave them if you do it how i did mine. I made a template of the top of the bed rail and tranfered it to a piece of sheet metal, then just welded it on. it took some time to weld down the lenghth of the bed on both sides, BUT it was worth it, It looks badass. it just so happens i snapped a bunch of pics yesturday, so ill post them up asap.

A buddy of mine had a set of metal caps just like the brians hand build by Bob Grant from Grant Fab that he didnt end up using. he's still got them and wants to get rid of them. Im pretty sure his truck was a 2001 also. I'll get some pics if your interested let me know

definitely interested in the metal caps, let me know what he want's for them...
