The answer to the question is this...
On GM vehicles that use a dual filament bulb to accomplish both the brake and turn functions, there is a relay circut that disconnects the ground for the brake light on the appropriate side, allowing the signal to blink on one side. There are two relayed brake ground disconnet circuts, one for each side. Because Toyota uses a seperate circut for it's turn signals, I need to wire in a relay to disconnect the ground for the brake light on each side.
