just wondering if anyone here plays guitar. i'm looking to get my first one and was thinking of the Epiphones that look like Gibson Les Pauls. i'm don't plan on starting a band, i just want to jam on it.

my question is, what is a good amp for this guitar? are there and strings i should get to replace the stock Epiphone ones? thanks for the help.

Yeah, I have an epiphone les paul in red. If you are just looking to jam, get the same amp I have, a VOX ad30vt. Its a valvetronic, so you get the good solid state sound, with the tube style distortion (but you dont have to have the volume up all the way.) The epi les paul is a great guitar, mine cost 500, but they have some cheaper models.

is it an epi or epiphone? the epis suck, just a cheap guitar for the beginner, i love a freakin jackson, some of their cheaper guitars are still sweet, the necks on jacksons are so easy to play. my first "real" guitar was an ibanez rg470, the rg series guitars are nice, the thick bodys have a pretty sweet sound, i recently picked up a schecter diamond a-7, wanted a 7 string, but didnt like the wider necks of other brands cause of my shorter fingers.

as far as an amp, ive always used crate, their solid state small combos are sweet, and really cheap, and have a decently crisp sound, specially for the price.

I've got an Epiphone Black Beauty. Just like a Les Paul, but with an extra pickup. It's a nice axe, I've got no complaints.

I usually use D'Addario lights, sometimes GHS boomers.

For an amp, I've got a Line 6 Spider II. Great little amp for just jamming, and has tons of effects and models built in.

Not to brag but, I play a pretty mean air guitar.

Epi= Epiphone. And the epiphone les paul's are great guitar's. As for strings, I always use Elixer's.

I have a fender strat, and my Amp is a 60's-70's fender studio bass that I got free from a family member

Really? well mine is an Epiphone. Ive never seen epi's before. I always just used it as an abbrevation for Epiphone.
