Make a new layer on that new layer go to the flood tool pick a color flood it... then go to the layers tool window click the layer of the color. Then right click goto Blending options... and where it shows either transparentancy or Opaque.. its 2 little bars you can drag lower one of them till you get the desired color and transparent view of that layer...or best put till you can see the full image you are trying to color without fading the color so much that it disappears. After that take the MAGNATIC LASSO make sure use have the layer of color selected then trace the vehicle best as possible. When your done right click itll show some options hit.. "diselected inverse" when you do this hit the delete button and it should subtract color from around the vehicle then just normally diselect the windows, headlights, and whatever you dont want to be colored.

If any of the info i gave you is wrong sorry.

well the first reason it isn't turning out right is because it's a white truck your working with. there are no values to show definition for the new color. take a red truck for example and make it black and white, what do u get? a full range of whites for highlights, greys for colors, and blacks for shadows/door seems/ etc.... now the problem with a white truck is that you only have the whites for highlights, whites for colors, and greys for shadows and minimal blacks. so with all that white being changed to a color there is no deffinition between the highlights and the general color so it gives the apperence of being a satin color. your best bet in this situation is to hand airbrush in highlights onto the truck to bring out some depth. u could also do come color adjustments like "levels" or "selective color" to try and adjust the 'greys' back to a darker shade to seperate the highlights from the general color....

not sure if ull understand this.. but

like doug said.. brush some highlights and where the dark spots would be.. make those darker with the airbrush.. and sometimes, you can just create a new layer fill it all black and set it to overlay and adjust it and it will give u the trucks actual highlights like the pic i attatched... then you can add a darker color of the one ur using since your using green i used dark dark green, and set it to multiply, and then select a really light light color green and set it to overlay.. and mess with the settings and they will balance out leaving u with a good contrasting color with highlights and more definition
