Ok after hearing how much stuff I have to go through to convert over a FWD Engine I have decided to go back to a regular enigine. Im goin to get a 2.2 and have it stroked, ported, polished etc.......where could I get a turbo for this motor?.....Will a 2600i tranny bolt to a 2.2?

no, the 2600i tranny will not.

I dont know how you plan to "stroke" a 2.2, its already as big as it can be.

My advice, is dont waste your money on the truck motor. Get a nice 2 liter block from a car, it will not have as much torque but will be more satisfying to drive if you want a high rpm street motor. The 2.2 block is big, and has lots of torque, but will never be a high performance motor. The 2 liter will respond better to upgrades like midrange cams and intake porting.

my two pennies.

The chevy 2.2 ecotec motors are pretty powerful. The 2.0 ecotecs are the engines gm uses for there drag car. Just highly built. they push 30psi of boost. you can by the race ready blocks from gmperformance.com

I think Im just going to find me another 302, and bolt it up, less of a headache. do I need to get a new steering column, I heard theres a problem with the factory Mazda steering column when doing this...Who has motor mounts ? Hit me up on AIM Kiddknight12.......

To stroke an F2 engine effectively would require special machining of the crank, having the journels recoated for hardness, custom bearings, custom rods, and probably custom pistons.

Probably a good $1500 for an engine that is maybe 2.4L or 2.5L max IF you really know what your doing. That is without any other performance mods.

I love the F2 engine but if power is all you want then get rid of it. There are plenty of cases where spending a couple hundred dollars to get a bit more performance out of it is practical but not if all you care about is how much it puts out.

dont forget machining off the bottom of the bores for journal clearance. Making the stroke longer means higher deck hieght, unless you absorb all the extra stroke length at the bottom of the bore (by lowering piston height) and the pistons woould fall plop out of the bores of you did that. That F2 2200cc was originally a LOT smaller engine, and its been bored and stroked as much as humanly possible with any kind of reliablility. Probably flex like a plastic sled too.

I agree K6, saying "mazda truck performance" is like saying "enthusiastic rectal exam", the two just dont belong together. Stick on a weber, a header and MAYBE a cam and be happy with 100-105 hp. If you go fast, you are just a 1/4 mile away from all the girls anyway.

if you've got a b2000/b2200 engine- the ford probe/ mx-6/ 626 GT car's turbo manifold and turbos will bolt right up to your head! Now you just need to get rid of the carb and get and efi manifold (you can get the factory b2200 efi manifold/ earlier323 manifold or an old 8 valve efi 626) Or you could hack on a fwd 12 valve efi intake and turn it around the other way for rwd. Need engine management for efi you say? Ummmmm.....MegaSquirt yo!
no regrets . wa   +1y
