best sound from subs

what is the best way to mount subs? facing out, or facing in? (to the box)

Every box that I have had the subs have always sounded better facing out.

my personel prefrence for seal is face them out ,in a sealed enclosure your sound is generated by the cone of the speaker in a ported box your port is what generates the sound ,so in a ported application if the speaker looks mean inverted flip it reverse polarity and enjoy ,oh most of the custom boxs i build here are ported and most are inverted saves on air space
