Sup guys have questions.

I just bouth a complete 1990 Mazda B2600 4WD with straight sheetmetal and brand new engine. I honestly just bought the entire truck for hte parts. But I was planning on doing a frame and suspension swap. Is this possible, or can you tweak the 4wd frame and suspension to allow for a body drop and bags?

Or would it be better to get me a 2wd frame and go to town on it?

any thing is possable if your a mini trucker, it would be awesome to do some tweeking to turn it into a bagged and body droped mini with 4wd, then you'd be a bit different

OK the real question is that I was kinda wondering if I can just pull the 4wd front sus & diff replace with 2wd and still be able to pull of a bag and body drop?

Or will it be better to get ahold of a 2wd frame and swap all of the 4wd stuff to it?

Will I need a trans swap?

no regrets . wa   +1y
all depends on how much you like working on trucks and if you got the exparance to start messing with critical suspension parts

No. The front suspension on the 4wd uses lower a arms, the 2wd uses lower control ars with a strut rod. You would need to cut the frame behind the front suspension and weld a 2wd clip on.

But also, the tranfer case off the back to the trans hangs lower than the frame, and so does its crossmember. So you would need to remove that as well.

Also, the leaf perches are lower on the 4wd than on the 2wd, so you would need to raise them or replace them with 2wd parts.

Also, the transmission will need changed to a 2wd trans.

What I am getting at is, while all the above modifications are indeed possible, a MUCH better course of action is to just buy a 2wd chassis complete and swap the body of the 4wd. Or, even better, buy a 2wd mazda and swap the hood, fenders and the ned with the 4wd. Then sell the 4wd complete with the 2wd sheetmetal (it will fit perfectly) and use the 4wd sheetmetal on your 2wd.

Thanks Russ. Anyone elses ideas are welcome. Ok good. I have found a 2wd ext cab this morning. I am going to look at it. I have only built Nissans. So this mazda is going to be fun. THanks again.

Russ is right, about a hour of swapping otu the bed and fenders and your done. the 4x4 stuff is very hard to find. I paid 2500 for 2 fenders and bedsides from the dealership a few years back. (all brand new shipped from Japan)

Russ werent you selling your caddy wheels a while back with tires? If so and you havent sold them Ill buy them ASAP! I solved this problem and bought both trucks. I bought a 93 b2200 today and will do the conversion on the body panels soon. Then we sell the 4x4!
