I'm Baggin a 98' F-150 & for some reason the upper 4 link tabs, on the top of the pumpkin, keep breaking off. Even with good penetration. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

are you welding onto a cast pumpkin? because welding to cast is bad, unless you really know what your doing, brazing the cast and stuff.......

My guess would be the pumpkin is cast iron. And you can't weld cast. Or unless you really knew what your doing then it's possible. Just bend you some pipe that goes around the pumpkin then weld your upper 4link tabs to it.

Like david said. Probably Cast.

Thank you for the replies. I will weld some strap to the rear end and weld the tabs to it. Thanks again.

yea the pumpkin is cast and welds will NOT stick to it. instead of doin this \/ do em like this /\

i always heard not to weld to cast. but we tried it on my lil brothers sonoma. with a mild v8 in it.

he has done HUGE burnouts, donuts, 3 wheeling, everything and they are still fine.

we ran a pass with .30 on the mig. then went over it with some 7018 rod using the arc welder.

with the new setup we are going to have to redo it all anyways tho

with arc welding and the right rods it is possbile, but hard to do w/ out breaking/cracking the cast.
