i cut the factory one out. i have a fbi tranny crossmember but its to short. it doesnt make it to each frmae rail by about 3 inch each side. and suggestions or ideas on making it work?what have you done with yours??? pics?thanks

I made one that clears the exhaust.

You could always find some tubing that fits over whatever size tube it is. Slide it on about 6-8 inches, then weld it. Even cut some slits about 1/4" wide on the outer tubing, and weld those up for more strength.

I could see it being a little too short, just so it slides in easy and then some type of L brackets make it still work, like they stick out a few inches.. but 3" is a little too much, what Seth said sounds like the best way to fix it quick and easy.. have you called FBI to see what they say about it being 6" too short?

Yea, lol, the ones I make are about 1/2" narrower than the frame rails, total. So thats 1/4" on each side.

Yea lol that's like the max I'd have it shortened too just to get it in there quick and easy onto the mounting brackets. I gotta build mine soon..

Mine come out really easy. You unbolt the high side and it holds itself, then you unbolt the lower side and support it with our hand, and pull that side down first. Perfect.

Nice

well got it all done. it actually was more liek 1.5 on each side once i got the old one cut otu and the new one bolted in. thanks ugys. another question tho.
the 4 bolt that support the tranny to the crossmember in between them is that big nut that hangs down. whast the purpose for it? whst it do? i didnt touch it i left it alone. it looks as if it owuld push up or pull down the tranny? where should it be set at?

You should probably leave it where it's at. Unless it hangs below the frame. I had to jack my tranny up an extra 1/2". And I turned that big nut in a few turns. I think it just has somethign to do with the bushing.

well mine didnt hang below the frame but i did push it up a lil 1/8 to 1/4 maybe. im gone turn that nut and see what happens it looks like it adjusts the bushing somehow? that bolt does hang a lil low im kinda worried its gonna scrape
