Everyone I talk with in and outside this forum about doing a bodydrop insists on placing the frame on a jig, first. By doing this, what initially should be done? Are there several steps to be taken? What are the pre-cautions? NOTE: My skills are limited but I have plenty of local resources available. 2NDXRND

i assume you are referring to doing a stock floor body drop? it all depends on how your doing it really. are you cutting down the stock frame and using box tubing to beef it up, or are you doing a new frame from the firewall back, or are you going all out and building a whole entire frame? if your just cutting down the stock frame you wont need a jig, just put in a few braces to keep things where they go and so they do flex when welding. now if your doing a full frame or even a firewall back, a frame jig would be awesome if you have access to one, or have the know-how to build one. good luck with your build man!

about one of the easiest is to strip your truck down put your truck up on stands and level the frame out...so its level front to back and side to side. This is what I am doing to my s10 and since it was back halved already all I need to do is replace under the cab so I took 2x2 and welded that up and down on all four corners of the engine cradle and the backhalf to make them like tables. ThenI cut out the pieces I didnt want and replaced them with 2x2. use round and some tubing for the body mounts.
Oh and make sure you fishplate your joints for strength, alot of people dont do it...it may be strong enough but I dont trust it.
