Has anyone had any negative effects buy getting rid of this thing? mine's been unplugged for a while and it doesn't seem to make a difference. It looks like I can take the 'in' line and hook it to the passanger rear drum and bypass this thing. Am I wrong?

Giver. I did it yo my truck when I bagged the rear and suffered no ill effects. I bent a new line to hook up to the union on the side of the frame by the gas tank and ran it to the flex hose for the rear axle.

I ditched it on my 90mazda, but did it the easiest way possible! looked at my 87 and was like....hmmmm, they are the same. went to the junkyard, and bought the pieces from a non abs truck---$5it hooked in and is perfect length.

All ABS units are designed so that if there is a failure the brakes will continue to function, you just won't have ABS.

The mazda pickups have RWAL (Rear Wheel Anti-Lock). The reason for this is because the rear end is light and the rear brakes engauge first, since it is so light they tend to lock up. Mazda put RWAL on these trucks because when the rear wheels lock up and the fronts don't the rear end tends to try to pass the driver and cause a spin out.

If you bypass it all your brakes will work fine just be careful during an emergancy stop, I would try to put some wider tires in the back or transfer some weight back there to help conpensate.
