Ball Joint Question

My lower balljoint is now bottomed out. I figure I can do something similar to the lower arm that I did to the upper. Section it to correct the problem. But, my question is, do I need all of the bolts to hold down the balljoint? My balljoints are weird. The not only face down, but they're shaped like a crows foot puller.

So, question is, can I cut the rearmost bolt out? Or will I entirely loose stability? That bolt is also right where my bag needs to go.

mine looked the same only mine went under the arm & faced up...i'll try to get pics later tonight or tomorrow. i wouldn't cut that back bolt hole off though...just guessing, but it seems like it'd be unstable.

Thats what I wanted to know. I'd like to angle it, and maybe raise it all up a bit, to get more room for my bag. But, that rear bolt is right were the bag needs to sit.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT I'M FIXING THIS TRUCK THAT WAS A PREVIOUS HACK JOB SO I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANY HATING!!!!!!

here's how my stock front went together with the belltech spindles. i also added a pic of where it all mounted to the frame (i just started cutting off the old upper bag brackets) & i have the byc upper & lowers so you can either try to make yours like mine with the lower balljoint facing up & use later model spindles (mine's an '88 ), or as i said before, you can have all this old stuff if you want.

good luck man, i hope this helps a little...

Well, I guess I'll figure something out. I was hoping I'd be able to ditch that last bolt. Thanks Corey!

Did you try making shims yet? I make 1/4 inch spacers and shim them...

The thing is, the more I move that up, the more it eats into my bag space, and there is hardly any whatsoever at this point. I think that if I get newer model spindles, the fact that the balljoint faces up instead, it will drop my lower arm down another 3/4" or however thick the spindle is. Then my balljoint likely wouldn't bind then.

Got the same problem with that zuzu that im doing. the lower ball joint is binding and it pisses me off cause everybody said all u need to lay 20's was drop spindles which there is no way with that lower binding. I set the upper plate without the spindle on and once i put the spindle on it wouldnt compress enough to meet what it was set too. So now he is short on lift. I was debating on just cutting and bending then reinforcing it best bet withought just building all new bottoms. Dont know
