already searched and found nothing...
I am a Ford/mazda guy and recently acquired a 92 Toyota pickup. I was told by a friend who has dealt with Toyotas before that you could not just buy a generic short ram "civic-style" intake that will work on the 22re because of some electronic module in the airbox assembly that causes the truck to not run if unplugged. Is this true? Is there a way around it? Help settle my argument.

No way around it. LC Engineering has the ram air intake and you can usually find one on eBaY for pretty cheap. There's an adapter plate that gets bolted onto the MAF to allow a silicone boot to slip over and connect the intake. The MAF regulates the air/fuel on these motors, so...

so does the module get relocated with the LC kit or what? How would one seperate it from the airbox?

Here's my set up, used Weapon- R tubes cut to fit, & a K&N cone filter, w/ a 2nd air draw at the bottom of the box, draws air from the front core support & the wheel well!
