steering wheel air bag

Is there a safe and cheap way to remove the air bag in a s-10 with or without making the the bag deploy?

i took off my airbag on my 2001 gmc fullsize the hardway. if is the same good if not sorry. here i got
take the two screws off the back of the sterringwheel behind the airbag, next on the top of the airbag and on the bottom there are some pins/hooks your need to pry off after that it should come off easily with no problem. i tore mine apart, and when i did i found the pins and was pissed. try that laters

first and most important thing to do is disconnect your battery. The airbag system retains some power after your batery is disconnected. Total discharge time varies from vehicle to vehicle so wait 5 to 10 mintues to be safe.
