ok i have a 91 chev pick up and i want to do the dash conversion to give the interior of the truck a newer look. what is all involved in doing the swap besides the pain of removing the dash? how much rework on the heater and ducting and controls and for the guage cluster what is the best way to go there? thanks for the help guys!

Well to do it right, it will include using updated wire harnesses, a small section of the cab will need to be replaced around the pedal area, and there are other things to be done but off hand, i cant remember them.

actually we did the swap in my truck and everything bolted up... except the emergency brake release, and hood oper handle. the a/c and heater ducting is all bolt on juss get the corresponding part numbers. But u do hav to mod the kick panels, and u hav to get the newer a-pillars aswell., and it looks goofy if u dont upgrade the door panels cuz it wont match up without 'em.

Vince (baggednbad91) when you did your install you said it was a basic bolt it, besides those few things that you had to mod, what did you do with those? and the heater ducts you said you need the right p/n? is that for the new dash pieces or what? and since i see your using aftermarket gauges. ANYONE who has done this swap does the gauge cluster from the early 90's fit in the hole for the 95-98? thanks again!

no the older cluster does not work... if you put the new colum in instead of using the 94 back you have to build extenision so it will bolt up and build a bracket coming down fromteh friewall to mount it. and the linkage for the colum isnt right either(differnt lenghts)

and like he said^ apiller and door panels( and then the get the newer door handles to work you have to mod the inside of the door so the handles will moun, or get that part from a newer style interior truck)..... way more work than its worth really for just puttina newer STOCK interior in..... trust me i am kickin myself in the ass for doing it to mine with as much time i have in it i could built a sheetmetal custom dash.

( i had a 94 cab and used a 97 dash on my duially)
