I'm wanting to put a different set of tailights from another truck into my s10. I know you make a pattern and cut it out of your bed, but then you just have a sharp edge. Do you round the edge or do you have to build a bucket the tailight sits in. Any help would be great. If that makes any sense.

Most of the time, you cut out the area around the tail light that you want to use, and can graft it in. Depends on what the light is out of, and how well it matches with the design of your truck though too. Most of the time if it doesn't match real well, I notice most people build buckets and do it that way. Good luck.

I plan on doing a light swap, and I was just going to make my own bucket to weld into my bed.

i got my choice of taillights for my 96 f-150 and then cut out the section in my tailgate skin. i made my own buckets from scratch. welding in the buckets and then smoothed out the edges. put a little mud around it and then primed the whole area. a lot of work but definately worth it in the end.. i have never seen anybody else have the taillights that i have. i wanted something original and something that i loved regardless of what other people thought. im glad i shaved the original tails. good luck with your project. keep asking around to get ideas.
