I have a 88 Ford Bronco II 4X4 2.9 and m and a buddy finally got the broken spark plugs out of my head without having to take everything off. I put on new plugs, wires, dist. cap/rotary button and coil. All brand new parts. Well we got it all put back together and it fired right up and was idling really rough. The motor was shaking and it had a miss, then the engine just shut off and we have been unable to get any juice off of the coil since. I know its not my timing because none of that was moved during the installation of the new cap. My only guess why it was idling rough is because the firing order is all out of whack, and i have no idea what is wrong with the coil and why its not giving any spark. Are there knock sensors on this year/model vehicle? If so how do i reset it? I took the battery terminal off for like 30 minutes and we are still unable to get the motor running. Does anybody have any diagrams of the firing order for this motor and does anyone have an! y suggestions as to why i am not getting any spark?

well the firing order ended up being perfect the way it was, so i dunno what to do about it now. must be from the coil back

there is a resistor in the wiring harness for the coil that blew on mine and i couldnt get it to fire for shit. i had to go snag one from the jyard cuz my manuals (ford one)wouldnt tell the ohmage of the resister. its called ballist resistor.also try switching the module on the distriburtor(TFI) go to the jyard and get a motorcraft one, there almost 100 bux at the dealer.i bought a new one from napa and it didnt work the next day.

tfi module on the distrubtor. it sends the signal to the pcm to make the injectors pulse.

ok i finally got the bronco firing. I adjusted the ignition module and got it firing good. Only problem is, instead of firing blue like normal its firing bright red and its not enough to make the engine start completely. Anybody know what might be wrong?
