I have an 89 GMC S-15, I am getting ready to start working on it. For temporary status I want to lower it using blocks. I want to do about a 5 rear 4 front. What is the best way to lower the rear with blocks. And with this will I need shims or do the blocks have enough of a correction?

you can go with a 4" angled block and pull your middle leaf out, that will give ya about 5" of drop. your'll have to pull the leafs and cut one of the ends off, push the stock pin/thread through, then find a bolt to bolt the main and overload leaf back together. I just did 3" blocks on my s10 and wish i would have pulled a leaf or something, it looks good, just not low enough.

Yeah what he said! Blocks are pretty cake. Also, I believe, especially on S-10s, 15s, that the blocks are already corrected with the angles, and if not, they include the shim.

Good luck and get some before and after photos up.

One other thing I forgot. Should I go with steel blocks or aluminum?

i havent seen that it matters, i've used belltech alums and used some advance autos for temp, they're steel. mine are temp, back will be bagged in 2 months, if you're only doing temp, go with the cheaper steels, they'll last. 26 bucks at advance for the 3"ers

Belltech Blocks are Aluminum...they work fine. For the rear you can also buy Drop Spring Shackles or De-arc the leaf springs. I believe they also sell mono leafs witch lower the back.
