At least a few of you guys followed the progress on the bed floor swap in my '72 and now its all back together, installed, polished, etc. Well, Sunday I get a call from one of my buddies and he says..."Hey Jeff, I'm in the shop and I just walked past your truck. The polyurethane is letting go and bubbling". SHHHHIIIIIITTTTT.

Now I get to pull the bed, the wheel wells, the notch cover, and the wood. With all of that said, since I have to run the boards through a planer anyway I have the option to do a different color stain. I'M OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS, BUT YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO BE QUICK. So lemme hear some ideas (besides using the natural wood color). I like the ebony stain, but that doesn't mean there's not a better idea out there.

The guy that finished the floor did a great job on the stain, but apparently didn't know how to seal it up the right way. It got a little wet when I drove it the other day, and the clear just let go. It's a huge pain in the a$$, but I would rather find out about the problem now than later. Since I have to redo it, I'll just try to make the best of it and hopefully it will turn out really nice.

I think the black is original and sets it off. Keep it is my vote.

I work at my family's cabinet company, and we built a maple kitchen that had a blue dye, not a stain. it is a little difficult to achieve a consistaant finish, but the final product looks amazing, and would look badass on your blue truck. i have no idea who makes the dye, but try searching online if you are interested. by the way, that truck is sick, i've only seen a few extended cabs. I also have a 67 chevy swb stepside (check my profile).
