shaving tailgate on a 87 yota

ive seen one guy with a shaved tailgate on this kinda yota(canadian style bed i think it is)i wanna shave it but kinda need help

hey man, i got a 86 ranger and i welded the tailgate solid to the bed and welded the handle shut. First take off all the extra stuff that holds the tailgate on, smooth out the sides with a sander, check the size gaps on both sides of the tailgate to the bed sides and weld in flatbar to fill the gap. Then just get a buddy to hold the gate up and tac-weld that sucker on there. I just got done mine and it looks great. Ill post a pic as soon as i get them on my computer.

i think he has the bad with the lip.
