Does anyone know which upper ball joints have the most travel? I am working on a Maz right now and i'm running out of travel in the upper ball joint before I'm out of stroke in the hydro cylinder. The truck has Moog joints in it now.

this is a problem with the mazda truck truck I know all too well. Once the suspension reaches a cetian point- It will bind- the upper ball joint is the first to bind- it will keep you from laying out with stock spindles with 18 or bigger wheels. The solution: section the upper control arm and bend the mounting point of the the control arm at the ball joint- re angle it so the ball joint does not bind- then reinforce the arm. I am not aware of any other type of ball joint which has more movement than the stock upper ball joint- I can't imagine you would find one with anymore movement than stock. If you did- I don't know if you would actually be able to use it- because the control arm would be in the way at the mounting points.

an Autodrive K5108 has alot more travel than the stock balljoint. its made for a GM car and has the 4 hole pattern but fits the Mazda spindle.

the balljoint is not the problem, its the angle of the balljoints when layed out.

on a stock Mazda arm, the balljoint should be at the end of its travel as the truck is layed out, then you have the entire range of travel before topping out the balljoints.

so if you do reangle your control arms, lay it out and have them at the end of travel when layed out.

Different arms, same idea. You just pie cut the arms and re weld them together.
