Anyone got some tips on removing seam sealer? I went to seam seal my bed and it pretty much looks like shit so I am going to get it back out, weld it solid and grind a nice radius with a deburring bit. I started to grind the seam sealer off which is working but I was wondering if anyone knows of a faster method. Like something that will break it up.

go to walmart or advance auto and buy one of those rust removal tools. They go on the end of a drill. We called em rust busters but we used those at school when we were trying to just remove seam sealer and it worked really good i thought

snap-on sells an air tool called a crud-thug but its basically a right angle grinder with a wire wheel on the end of it..get a good 4.5" right angle electric grinder and a knot wheel from the local lowe's, home depot, etc and use that...the corners and tight spots i use a scraper and a 90* pick for the seam...comes off like butta!

OK, I found that a wire wheel works great and PVC pipe cleaner melts it away. This fucking blows. Don't ever use seam sealer if you want a clean job in the bed.

should have tryed the old paint thinner and rubber glove thingy. use paint thinner on your finger and smooth the sealer out

I tried that vic. Well I used lacuer thinner. Seam sealer melted my glove and the welds were still showing after the seam sealer dried. I used the brushable 3M stuff, maybe I used the wrong stuff. I want it slick enough to paint and the seam sealer wasn't even close to that. I was hoping it would sand but that wasn't happening either. LOL
