the company that lists one in their catalog

1) had a list price of $659

2) dont make it any longer.

Someone mentioned another company that makes one, but I would be more inclined to DOUBT than BELIEVE that rumor.

You can make CBR 600F4i throttles fit a custom made intake and use megasquirt fuel and ignition control for around 800 bucks. (I did) You can tune for both power and economy, it always starts, and you never have to sync them.

659 + 500 for some sidedrafts = 1159, you will be tuned for one rpm range only and have a super crappy warmup temperment. Plus syncing them, while not hard, is still a pain in the ass.

hey russ ( all mighty one, lol ) i was thinking about making them, use a flat plate on the head, four tubes, another flat plate to mount the carbs, do you think 1/4 inch steel and thick wall tubing would work, also got any ideas on the water ports

Mine is like you describe, and I just plumbed my water ports externally. Meaning welding short tubes to the flange and connecting them with rubber line.

I like topics like these- lets talk about this kind of stuff all the time... lol!

How about a FI intake with standalone.

You can't go wrong with itb's though- the sound and throttle response is terrific!

Russ we should just start producing ITB intakes for mazdas made from custom aluminum sheet metal. Sell them with standalone fuel and drop in fuel pumps. Still would be cheaper and more reliable than some side draft carbs.

hey madlowmazda,
what do you mean, fuel injection with stand alone, hit me back with some info, i might be interested, cause right now i have a set of 800 carbs sitting here and all there good for on my truck right now is holding down the pages of my manual so the wind dont blow them, lol

fuel injection on a mazda engine would require a new intake manifold, or sourcing an original mazda EFI truck intake- which is rare but can be found with patience and money. Standalone fuel management is an aftermarket solution to oem fuel injection. Specifically, Megasquirt standalone would be the choice. Megasquirt is a very inexpensive yet versital fuel management computer. Using it would require less oem sensors and more options to inject the amount of fuel that you require= more horsepower. AND a standalone system is ready for anything: nitrous, turbo, supercharger, whatever you want to do.
