Im doing some research on what pre-charge pressure I should set my accumulators at. I am actually doing a research project that needs to be done in a few weeks and my car wont be on the road for a few months to test it. Its a 65 coupe deville and I have a shop manual that says the front load is 2650 lbs, and rear load is 1350 lbs. My accumulators are 0.32L. I calculated system pressure to be about 3200psi in front, and 1700psi in the rear. I calculated the pre-charge pressure to be 1300 psi in front, and 660 in rear (not including the added weight from the batteries and hydro equipment). That 1300psi just seems to be really high in front.

When I charged the accumulators on the rear of my truck, I charged them to about 850psi of nitrogen but they were about 1.5L and had leaf springs and 1 ton coil springs.

The setup on my current car will be: 4 pump Pro Hopper, 4 accumulators w/12v electric shut offs, coil-over front and rear, both w/powerballs, 8" Front cylinders on 4 ton springs, 14" Rear cylinders on 3.5 ton springs, 23 switch Porkys light-up switchbox, 8 batteries, streetcharger.

Anyways, I was just wondering what everyone with an accumulators system was setup like? As in what pressure is in your system and what pressure are you pre-charging your accumulators to?

I know that setting the system up and trying out different pressures is the only way to get it correct for each car and setup, I'm just trying to get some theoretical data to back it up.

Lowriding isnt the only application this is done in. It is commonly used in agricultural, commercial, heavy equipment, and rail vehicles.

I'm just trying to get some info to back up the lowrider side of it.

Any and all feedback will be greatly appreciated. And if you want I can add you as a reference in my report.

Thanks, Phil

i have 300 psi in each of my accumulators. that is on a 92 accord wagon. its about a 3400-3500lb car with everything in it so its lighter then the car your workin with. if i were in you spot i would try out 500psi up front and 400psi out back and see what it does.
mine rides real soft to. like a factory caddy, better then a stock accord
