The painless kit just plugs into your steering column.it replaces every other wire in the truck.

I have been told by several people including Painless that they do make a kit that plugs into the stock column. But when it came down to it they did not and I ended up getting a universal 18 circuit non gm harness. I just had to figure out what wires ont he column were what and other than that it was very easy. I used a test light and some diagrams to determine what wire on the column was what. On your question about the wiring going to your lights. Every wire is included. So basically you run the wires to their location and hook it up. It's only power wires so you will have to ground everything. If you have any specific questions or need any help hit me up. I just did mine recently and I can help you out.

This is when I first started it. You can see where I mounted my fuse box.
