Hey fellas, i just needed to know if i needed to use primer if the car is already painted. Can i sand all of the clear away and just prime over bare areas? I am using a dark color to repaint. Thanks

If the paint is in good shape I wouldnt sand all the clear off Just hit it with a light sand and paint over it. Use maybe a 800 grit sand paper. Dont sand it hard tho all you want to do is dull it up so the new paint will stick.....Ive actuley heard of people using a scotch brite pad to dull it...

yea man as long as your paint is still good , just wet sand it with 800 grit but just enough to take the shine off, wipe it really good after your done and your can use a gray scotchbrite to dull any areas that you might have missed like edges and bodylines... then you will be ready for paint...
