Alrighty...I am putting in a 305 with a 700r4 tranny. I know I need a new custom built driveshaft. But before I do anything does anyone have the measurments writin down somewheres or can help out. And another question is, if I snap my rear end...what one should I put in to replace it? THat won't snap

put the motor and tranny in place before you get the drive shaft made or it could be wrong,do the drive shaft last after everthing in the drive train is done, and as for if you break the rearend then swap it for a toyota rearend, it's got freakin huge axle shafts, it's what i used when i had mine

86-93 mustang rear end will work great, their 2-3 inch's shorter aswell.

Mmm ok what year toyota rear end should i use. And my other question is my mechanic has gone downstate to buy parts for a lot of people and he is going to keep an eye out for escalade wheels for me, how hard would it be to have a rear end built with the mazda bolt pattern?

And what is the bolt pattern on the yota' and the stang?

And if I went with a new rear-end where can i buy a new front hub set up to have the same bolt pattern?

if you go with a toyota 4x4 rear, it will have the 6 lug bolt pattern.

mustangs are either 4 or 5 lug depending on year

if you have one built, id go w/ a ford 9" housing and companies build them with any bolt pattern you wish, to any width you wish.

With a 305 i would just keep the stock Mazda rearend the truck is so light that it will take awile to burn the gears out in the Rearend .

first off is it a reg cab/reg bed? or longbed or excab? if it is a excab or long bed you'll have a 2 piece with a carior bearing. once you got the motor and trany bolted down!!! measure from the exact tip of the trany and the tip of the drive line!! also measure and remeasure so you get exact right on the money measure twice cut one i always say once u do that take ur drive line to the drive line shop give him ur measurment and he'll build it for ya!!

sorry i meant to say from the trany tip to the tip of the axle where the drive line bolt's up to! if i remember correctly mine was 67'' i dont remember but every install is differant mine to my buddie's with the same motor swap was about a 2'' differance! hope it goes well and dont worry about the rear end i was told by alot of people that this rear end is tuff!
