I am getting my rear suspension done this weekend. I am getting the shop that is doing the work to only do a basic bridge because that is all i can afford. Although, i am in a welding class and can get use of a welder, steel, and pipebender. What i need to know is what size tubing should i use to enhance the look of my bridge.. i just want to dress it up a little and i need to know the size of the tubing that wont kink in the middle of the bend. Thanks.

if you use a mandrel bender the tubing wont kink at all...I usually use 1-3/4" race car tubing....if you use a cheap bender it will kink unless you fill it with sand or something like that..

On my bridge, I've used schedule 80 piping of 3/4" and 1". Schedule 80 piping is pretty close to quarter inch thick wall. Schedule 80 is thicker than the piping found at places like Home Depot or Lowes which is usually schedule 40.

yes, the bender is what kinks the tube, not the tube. Harbor frieght benders arent so good, buy or find a good one.

Speaking of, I just got a tracking number from trick-tools, my JD2 bender is on the way! My brother in law works at the local steel place and bought 8 20ft sticks of 1 inch .065 on a special close out. My daughters and I are building a go-kart this summer!
