Hey I'm daniel from the los angeles area. New to DS, but not to car forums. I have a '96 chevy quad cab 4x4 454 with a 6" pro comp suspension lift and 3" body lift with 35" tires, about 220k miles.

I've had this truck for about a year now, and the engines starting to show problems. She's been running bad for a week now, changed the spark plugs about 4 months ago, and decided to do a compression test, so we took the plugs out yesterday and found 1 starting to build up this hard chalky stuff between the electrode, and another was completely clogged with black gunk oil buildup. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, obviously an oil leak but not sure where. I was just going to skip the compression test and take the heads in to get rebuilt, or buy some aluminum ones, what do you guys think?

I will have pictures tomorrow

Other problems are power steering pump needs to be replaced, rear diff needs to be checked out, I think it could use an alignment as well.

Future plans for the truck include an engine swap(eventually), maybe to diesel? Bigger tires, shock hoop, 2010+ front conversion(i know there will be custom fabrication), offroad brushguard w/lights/winch etc.., offroad rear bumper, roof cage w/lights, a good wet sanding and touch up paint here and there, had a 5th wheel hitch so i might do airbags and get a trailer down the road

Also, what's the difference between c/k3500? I always just say c3500.

Sounds like an awesome project. For sure post pics. And from what I know, the only difference between a C and K 3500 is that a C is 2 wheel drive, and the K is 4 wheel drive.

X2 on the difference on c and k and ur oil buildup on ur plug will be from your valve seal leaking your lack of compression will be cracked or warped head, blown gasket, or piston rings u can eliminate some by finding out if ur losing antifreeze

Thanks guys, I'll start calling it k3500. I think I'll just do the compression check anyway to make sure everything is good, atleast I know I have to get one head rebuilt, I'll do them both.
