today I was on my way to layd out when a compressor relay went out. i pulled the relay off and went to o'reillys and told them i needed one, not paying attention i plug it in, hit the switch smoke starts bellowing out of the steering column , the engine dies and will not restart. i took the dash out and i had four burnt wires and an ignition switch. i get it home and replace everything and now the truck will still not not start its not getting any fuel. you can spray ether in the intake and it will start but just will not run. the compressor do not work either. im lost,,, what could be wrong?????

do you have the power for the compressor coming from your ignition wiring? Because I'm leaning towards your compressor stopped when you blew a big fuse under the hood, you wired the relay back and it didnt come on so you tried swapping wires, which back fed through your ignition and caused the burnup.

There is smoke in every wire, and its not made to come out. Once you let it out, its a bitch to put back in.
Lessons I am certain you have learned: FUSE EVERY WIRE THAT DRAWS ANY CURRENT. The only exceptions to this are low current stuff like remote turn ons for amps. MARK EACH WIRE or TAKE ONE WIRE OFF AT A TIME TO MAKE SURE YOU GET THEM BACK ON RIGHT.
